“A love letter to the kiwi experience” ★★★★1/2
James Croot reviews Daffodils on Stuff, 13 Mar 2019:
Why you should give yourself more Bliss and check out this Kiwi movie-musical
The timing couldn't be better.
With the world in the middle of a movie-musical renaissance sparked by La La Land and confirmed by last year's box-office dominance of The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Star is Born, Mary Poppins Returnsand Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again – here's one of our own.
Even better, it's a jukebox musical featuring some of this country's most-beloved tunes and one that has already wowed Kiwi and international audiences as a stage show.
… This is a love letter to the Kiwi experience, our own equivalent to Once or Sunshine on Leith, and finally a crowdpleasing indigenous musical to sit alongside Don't Let it Get to You and Footrot Flats: A Dog's Tale.
Give yourself more bliss and check out this celebration of New Zealand music, film-making and storytelling.
