Under the Vines

“Delightful new comedy-drama ... this is sunshine in a bottle” — The Spinoff

Two city slickers inherit a failing vineyard in rural New Zealand… the only problems are that neither of them has ever done a hard days' work—and they despise one another

Australian TV star Rebecca Gibney features as Daisy Munroe, a Sydney socialite who has led a charmed life generously funded by her estranged stepfather Stanley. When Stanley dies suddenly, the generous stipend goes with him. Thankfully she is heir to Stanley’s estate. But all that is left of Stanley’s fortunes is a vineyard—in New Zealand.

Charles Edwards (The Crown, Downton Abbey) as Louis Oakley, London barrister and moody bastard, is at rock bottom when he learns that his Uncle Stanley has died. His neglected wife is sleeping with a college artist, his law firm partner has defrauded clients and disappeared, and Louis has been disbarred after running naked through Piccadilly Circus while on a massive bender.

Each believing themselves Stanley’s “sole” heir, Daisy and Charles arrive in New Zealand with a common desire—to take the money and run. But things get complicated, and the new owners of Oakley’s Winery must somehow pull together to make a success of the vineyard.

A light drama with a rom-com touch, set amidst the grandeur of New Zealand’s renowned Central Otago wine region, Under the Vines is a series with wine, a healthy dash of humour, and a whole lot of heart.
